Sagrantino wine is like a wild horse you want to ride
Wine Tour in Montefalco – Savour Umbria
Description
Anybody who has even a passing interest in wine, has probably already heard of Montefalco. One of the two D.O.C.G. wines of Umbria is Montefalco’s Sagrantino, a red wine which brings the name of the indigenous grape variety that grows exlusively in this territory.
The area surrounding Montefalco has been famous for its vineyards for thousands of years. Two thousand years ago Pliny the Elder mentioned a prized grape cultivated in those territories, which actually could be identified as one of the Sagrantino grapes. A wine tour in Montefalco will make your day!
Just tasting the luscious, vibrant, rich, floral and tannic Sagrantino at its source is worth the visit.
To do so amongst the bell towers that dot the landscape, the golden hills and the endless expanse of green is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
“Wine is the poem of the earth”. (Mario Soldati)
